Illiana Garden Railway Society "All Aboard!"
The Iliana Garden Railway Society (IGRS) is a not for profit group of G-Scale enthusiasts from the states of Illinois and Indiana. Society members are interested in all areas of garden and modular large-scale model railroading. Among our goals is the education of the public about garden railroading, railroad modeling and the construction and running of garden railways. To that end, we plan to show our individual garden layouts at various times to the general public and to display our portable modularlayout at schools, children's hospitals and various expositions in Illinois and Indiana to promote G Scale railroading.

IGRS Members
The IGRS was founded on April 14, 2003 through the participation of sixteen charter members. Since its founding, the Society has grown. It now lists a complement of 38 men and women among its participating members. Membership is open to any person from the states of Illinois and Indiana who are engaged in Garden Railroading, desirous of becoming engaged in the hobby, or are interested in promoting Garden Railroading as a hobby. The IGRS offers families a Social Membership as Associates or a Full Membership as Voting Members.

 


IGRS Activities
Activities include monthly Society meetings, held at 7:00 PM on the fourth Tuesday of each month; 'How To Clinics'; model railroad show attendance;steam train excursions; visits to Society members Railroad Gardens and an annual picnic during the summer. The Society provides a fully operational modular G-Scale layout for exhibition purposes at children hospitals, retirement homes and community functions. The IGRS is currently working with other not-for-profit organizations to build and maintain public access examples of Garden Railroading.
